Exhibition: "Un debat dels anys 60: Què són les imatges?"
Opening: March 28, 12 pm
Should they be a moment within a broader narrative, as the artists of Narrative Figuration claimed? Or are they objects in themselves, without any relation to others? In the 1960s, within a historical context of social and political change in which everything was being questioned, images did not escape debate. The exhibition does not set styles against one another. It presents a field of forces, a shared moment in which all painting—figurative or not—is called into question.
SALA 2. S 37. From Trace to Abstraction
In 1981, in the exhibition that the Centre Pompidou dedicated to Peter Stämpfli, he extended along a wall a black structure evoking a tire tread, inspired by the geometric pattern of a car tire’s relief. This year, 45 years later, Stämpfli recreates the work.
SALA 3. Large Works, Small Formats
Nineteen small-format works introduce visitors to the variety of artistic procedures developed in Paris between 1960—a collage by Erró—and 2011, a magnetic painting by Takis.
