Der Sitges Rock Trail erreicht am Samstag seine zehnte Ausgabe

Die Veranstaltung besteht aus zwei Läufen, einem langen und einem kurzen, rund um das Gebiet des Massís del Garraf

The Centre Excursionista de Sitges (CES) is organising the tenth edition of the dual mountain run, the Sitges Rock Trail. The event is being held on Saturday, 28 February, when participants can take on the challenge of running around various iconic spots in the Parc del Garraf.

The event offers two distances of 12.5 and 26 kilometres along tracks and footpaths in the Massís del Garraf, setting off and arriving at the Parc del Rocar. A total of 484 runners will be taking part, over a quarter of them women. The short version, known as the Sitges Speed Trail, features an accumulated ascent/descent of 450 metres, while the longer version, the Sitges Rock Trail, features 1,000 metres.

The dual mountain run is set to start at 9 am from the esplanade in front of the Espai Jove, which once again becomes the focal point for the event. At that point, the upper section of Camí de la Fita and Carrer Josep Soler Tasis, as far as the Pruelles industrial estate, will be closed to traffic.

Both routes are again technical and entertaining, and include new sections, hence the event organisers affirming that this year's run will be “more rock than ever”. Both runs will be setting off almost simultaneously and sharing a short section which is different to previous years. The two routes go through the municipalities of Sitges, Sant Pere de Ribes and Olivella.

The CES is organising prizes for runners in each category, plus a communal lunch at the end for volunteers. Number bibs will be issued at the Espai Jove on Friday 27, from 5 pm to 8 pm, and Saturday 28, from 7 am to 8 am.  Shower facilities are also available at the Pins Vens sports centre for anybody interested. The prize-giving for the Sitges Speed Trail will be held around 11.30 am, followed by the prizes for the Sitges Rock Trail at 1 pm.

The event enjoys the support of organisations, companies a hundred volunteers, the collaboration of Sitges Town Council and the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC).
